Checked-in
  • Baggage and hand carry items being transported on ConocoPhillips aircraft are subject to x-ray and/or search.
  • Passengers may check-in 4 pieces of baggage, weighing up to 50 pounds each.
  • Approval required for exceptions.
  • Items exceeding 50 pounds will not be accepted. 
    • Passengers will be required to repack items to meet requirements.
    • Items that cannot be broken down under 50 pounds can be shipped to the slope via truck. Personal packages over 50 pounds will need to be delivered to the Anchorage Tower for screening and processing. From there the personal items will be shipped up on a consolidation truck to Kuparuk/Alpine security where they can be picked up. If the packages are for work purpose, please contact your materials or logistics planners to have the shipment arranged for trucking.
    • Shipment of specialized items must be coordinated through Aviation Operations Support.

Carry-on
  • Passengers will be allowed one personal item.
    • i.e., purse, small briefcase, laptop computer, camera bag, etc.
  • Passengers will be allowed one carry-on bag.
    • Cannot exceed the measurements of 14" H x 8"W x 22" L
      • Items exceeding these measurements will be checked.
  • Passengers seated in the first row will be limited to one personal item.
  • Styrofoam coolers and plastic trash bags are not allowed as checked or carry-on baggage.
Unaccompanied
  • For items that need to be flown to the passenger on the North Slope, prior arrangement must be made through the Aviation Operations Support office at Aviation Operations Support at (907) 263-3500 option 1 or aviationoperationssupport@conocophillips.com
  • For medication, the approval needs to be made through the destination medical clinic. Passengers will then claim the medication at the destination clinic. For additional information, see the Medication section.
Baggage Issues

To file a lost, delayed, or damaged baggage claim:

  • In Anchorage:
    • Contact an agent at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, ConocoPhillips Baggage Office or Ticket Counter at 907-263-3584.
  • On the Slope:
    • The passenger must see a security agent to start the baggage claim process.
    • Unclaimed bags will be stored at the ConocoPhillips Baggage Claim office for up to 30 days. If the bag is not claimed within 30 days, it will be donated to charity.

Contraband & Weapons

Items on the TSA Prohibited Items are not allowed in checked or carry-on baggage. ConocoPhillips Alaska further restricts the following items in both carry on and checked baggage:

  • Drugs (to include alcohol, marijuana, kratom, unprescribed controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia)
  • Any illicit substance introduced into the body that may alter an individual’s mood, perception, coordination, response, performance, or judgment.
  • Drug Detection Avoidance Kits
  • Weapons and Ammunition
  • Stolen Property

Violations of the TSA or ConocoPhillips Prohibited Items policies or refusal to submit to a search may result in denial of boarding, removal from the premises, future restrictions from accessing ConocoPhillips property, ConocoPhillips employee disciplinary action or termination, and/or referral to law enforcement for prosecution.

Transport in Checked and Carry-On Bags:
  • For passengers traveling with prescription medication, the prescribed medication needs to match the passenger’s name.
Unaccompanied Medication

If an individual needs medications flown to them on the North Slope, please follow the instructions provided:

  • Individuals must contact destination Medical Clinic for all medications being transported. Medication must be authorized by the Clinic.

  • Medical clinic will contact Aviation Operations Support and provide required information.
    • Authorization

    • Name and phone number of individual bringing medication to Ticket Counter
  • Aviation Operations Support will manifest the medication on requested flight.
  • Medication must be in a box with required information.
    • Receiving Clinic and Phone Number
    • Passenger Name and Company
  • Receiving Medical Clinic will verify and release medication to individual.
  • For medications being mailed/shipped the same procedures listed above will be followed with the exception of:  all medications will be mailed to the Tower Mailroom to be screened, and then either sent to the Ticket Counter for Q400 transport or sent to the Anchorage Logistics Warehouse for transport via truck.  Transportation decision will be at the discretion of the destination Medical Clinic when evaluating the urgency of the medication.  Medical Clinic will notify Aviation Operations Support about the transportation method.

Medication will not be accepted by the Anchorage Ticket Counter without notification from Aviation Operations Support that the clinic authorized the transportation.

Unaccompanied Cargo/Packages
  • For items that need to be flown to the passenger on the North Slope, prior arrangement must be made through the Aviation Operations Support office at Aviation Operations Support at (907) 263-3500 option 1 or aviationoperationssupport@conocophillips.com.
Freight
  • For cargo items, they must be shipped through Lynden. Their contact number is (907) 243-7248

  • Food Items Approvals
    • ConocoPhillips Aviation will not transport raw or frozen food. In the rare case food is approved for shipment through the ticket counter an approval is necessary prior to shipment.
    • For food items that need to be flown to the passenger on the North Slope, prior arrangement must be made through the Aviation Operations Support office at Aviation Operations Support at (907) 263-3500 option 1 or aviationoperationssupport@conocophillips.com

  • Guidance on allowable size/rating (Watt Hour Wh) and quantities:
    • Size/rating allowable up to 100Wh and not exceeding 160Wh
  • Carry-on baggage: must have terminals protected, and a maximum quantity of 2 spares.  This includes power banks.
  • Checked baggage: only batteries properly installed in a portable electronic device (e.g., watches, calculating machines, cameras, cellular phones, laptop and notebook computers, camcorders, medical devices, etc.), and must be completely switched off (i.e., not in sleep or hibernation mode) and protected to prevent unintentional activation.  No loose batteries, battery-powered portable smoking devices, spares, or power banks allowed in checked baggage.

Any visibly damaged, defective, or recalled lithium cells or batteries WILL NOT be carried.

There are no exceptions to the allowable quantity and size/rating.  If you need lithium batteries over the allowable quantity and size/rating, they will need to be shipped via ground transportation.  Ground transportation will not be coordinated through Aviation.

Personnel authorized by their respective North Slope Security Captains may transport firearms to and from the North Slope on ConocoPhillips Aviation Alaska aircraft in accordance with the following procedures:

  • Written authorization approved by the appropriate Security Captain must be submitted to Aviation Operations Support (AOS) at least 24 hours before each flight and travel date.
  • Firearm(s) must be presented at the ticket counter unloaded and inside a locked hard-sided case separate from ammunition.
  • Passenger must sign the “Firearm(s) Unloaded Declaration” form that will be provided by the ticket counter agent when checking in for the flight.
  • The firearm(s) and ammunition will be tagged at the ticket counter for the designated passenger’s flight and will be hand-carried by the NAMS Ramp Lead to the bagwell for screening.
  • Upon arrival at the slope, the camp security team will adhere to their policies regarding handling and storage of the firearm(s) and ammunition.

Firearm(s), parts, or ammunition will NEVER be placed in carry-on baggage.
